The man behind Money Clinic

A man known nationally for his skills in debt counselling and financial coaching, Alan Manshon, is the founder and owner of Money Clinic. He studied at the University of Stellenbosch Business School and pursued a career in the banking industry which he’s maintained for the past 16 years.

With more than 30 years of industry experience, he’s gained extensive knowledge in debt management, finance, and the National Credit Act.

The Money Clinic process to a debt-free life

Before you go about applying for debt review, there are some supporting documents that you might need.

These are used for identification reasons and to establish what your financial situation looks like.

  • South African ID document/Smart card
  • Proof of your current address not older than 3 months
  • The last three months’ bank statements
  • A complete list of all your current creditors
  • A complete list of your monthly income and all expenses

When you have these on hand, you’re ready to start with your debt review application.

The Money Clinic debt review process

  1. You’ll contact Money Clinic and set a time and date that suits you to discuss your situation.
  2. The debt review consultant assigned to your case will go over your financial situation to establish the way forward.
  3. Money Clinic will inform your creditors and the Credit Bureau that you’re under debt review.
  4. Your application is now assessed to determine whether you’re over-indebted and whether your debt repayments exceed your income.
  5. When your application is successful, your debt counsellor will work with you on a repayment plan that’s affordable and takes your monthly living expenses into account.
  6. When you’re satisfied with the new repayment plan, Money clinic will start negotiating with your creditors.
  7. As soon as an agreement is reached, your restructured debt repayment plan is sent to court to be made an order.
  8. You can now rest assured that you are protected from further legal action and can breathe easy with new, affordable debt repayment.
